Meet the Board

The SCA board is composed entirely of volunteer homeowners in the Summerfield and Lakes at Summerfield subdivisions.  These volunteers pay their dues and spend their time working together to improve and maintain our common areas and to address concerns of other homeowners when possible.  They hold office for one year.  Elections are to be held at a neighborhood meeting to be scheduled between October and February.

The board is governed by the Summerfield by-laws which can be found on this website on the public documents page.

This board does not have officers in the traditional sense.  After consulting with the Louisiana Secretary of State the board unanimously voted in 2017 to transition to change the title of each board member to ‘treasurer’ with one member being ‘secretary’.  This arrangement satisfies the law and ensures all members are of equal rank.

The board members elected at the October 2018 meeting for the 2019 year are:

Stella Neal

Jerry Linebaugh

Mel Martin

Craig Ruh

Jay Easley

Donna Nichols

Carol Burge

Brandy Guzzardo

Karen Buzzard

Janet White

Shannon Sloan

Stella and her family have been residents of Summerfield 2014. The year 2019 marks the beginning of her third year on the Summerfield Civic Association board. She is married and has 2 boys and a dog. Stella is office manager at a locally owned physical therapy company. She and her family are active members of the First Baptist Church in Denham Springs. They love football, but are a house divided: the family loves LSU, but she is a die hard Ole Miss fan. Stella loves meeting new neighbors and wants to help make this subdivision as great as it can be.

Jerry is the founder of Game Changer Tax Pros in Baton Rouge as well as the investment advisory practice, JLineFinancial. He is also an instructor with the Council of Financial Educators – an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to providing the public with the knowledge needed to confidently navigate the ever-changing retirement landscape. He is a member of several organizations including The Better Business Bureau and the National Ethics Association.

His experience in tax and financial planning spans over two decades. Jerry is sought out for financial commentary from various media outlets including WBRZ Channel 2, USA Today, US News and World Report, Yahoo Finance and more. He holds frequent classes and seminars in the local community that focus on strategies to avoid taxes on Social Security and other assets.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. He enjoys ATV adventure riding, camping, and gourmet indoor and outdoor cooking.

Mel and his family have lived in Summerfield since 2002. He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech and is the telecommunications specialist of a local power utility. He and his family have been active members of the Denham Springs Church of Christ since 1992. Mel is married with three sons, a cat and three parrotlets.

Carol  has lived in the neighborhood since 2007.  She is a retired teacher from Livingston Parish Schools. Carol loves her house full of children (Grayson and Hyland, her grand-babies are her life), loves to laugh and visit with her neighbors, and is ecstatic about being part of our AWESOME community!  She is also an active member of Northside Baptist Church where she also enjoys participating in community outreach work.

Brandy was born and raised in Mississippi, moving to Louisiana around 2013. To quote Brandy, it was the “best move my family ever made. We love it here”. Brandy and her family moved to Lakes at Summerfield in 2015. She knew this was the neighborhood for her as soon as she started looking at houses. She felt warm and safe! She has met some wonderful friends and her daughter has made life long bonds with other children in the neighborhood. She plans on being here for many years to come.

Shannon is a mother of three and has lived in Summerfield since October of 2017. She works in the direct mail industry in Baton Rouge by day, and is also an artist on the side, displaying her artwork at the DeLou gallery in the Denham Springs Antique Village. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, watching movies, writing, DYI projects, genealogy, and politics.

Janet and her husband George moved to Summerfield in 2011. She is a retired nurse and has a bachelors degree in HealthCare Administration. Janet loves spending time with her family and working to help our neighborhood be the best it can be.
